My boat, Endeavour, on July 17, 2011, in the 103rd Chicago-Mackinac race, shortly before a thunderstorm hit the fleet.
Welcome to my weather page, focusing on the weather of Lake Michigan and surrounding areas. I am currently enrolled in Penn's State certificate program in Weather Forecasting, and I'll be using this site to document my progress there as well. I encourage you to visit my other sites, including my sailing site and my family site. Feel free to contact me.

Seems rather unlikely at this point. We may have some accumulation tonight on grass and sidewalks, but it will quickly melt.
Santa will have to add on the wheel adapters when he comes through Chicago in a couple of nights.

Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 11:07AM I'm excited to be helping organize a basic marine weather seminar at the Chicago Yacht Club this spring, March 31, 2012.
This all-day seminar will be organized and run by my friend Mark Thornton, one of the original graduates of the Penn State Weather Forecasting program. In addition to being a meteorologist, Mark is an active sailor in Lake Erie and is well-versed in Great Lakes weather.
The seminar is unfortunately restricted to CYC members only and their guests, but I would encourage you to track down that CYC friend if you are in Chicago and interested in attending. At $49, it is a great deal for such a great educational opportunity.
