My name is Matt Gallagher, and I live in Chicago. I have always been interested in the weather, and weather is extremely important for the two hobbies I've had as an adult: flying and sailing.
I am currently enrolled in Penn State's Certificate of Achievement in Weather Forecasting program to further my meteorological knowledge. I am a member of the American Meteorological Society, it's Chicago chapter, and the National Weather Association.
With two little kids at home, I focus my leisuretime activities on sailing, both cruising with my wife and kids and doing some long-distance racing. My wife and I own a Beneteau 37, Endeavour, based in Belmont Harbor, Chicago. We completed our first Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac in 2011. We are active members of the Chicago Yacht Club, where I serve as a Vice Chairman fo the Race to Mackinac as well as the chairman of the club's Communications Committee.
In my day job, I am a lawyer in Chicago. I own my own small firm, Gallagher Niemeyer & Abrams, LLC, practicing real estate law. I also work part-time at CARPLS, Cook County's Legal Aid Hotline. For my professional bio, click here.
